Derrick Rose, Chicago Bulls Guard, is looking at another surgery in his right knee after an MRI showed he had a medial meniscus tear.  The news came late Tuesday Evening from the Bulls organization.

Derrick Rose has had a dark shadow over him since his first knee injury, an ailing set of knees that won’t hold up.

This is Rose’s third surgery since 2011 when he first tore his left ACL in Game 1 of the 2012 playoffs against Philadelphia. The torn meniscus this season is the same knee he injured in 2013 against Portland.

The time table for Rose’s return will be announced after the surgery.  The surgery was decided by both the Bulls and Rose before the meniscus was further damaged, they will repair the meniscus instead of cutting it out to elongate Rose’s career.  It’s no telling when Rose injured his knee, he looked to be entering mid-season form just before the All-Star break, but since the return he has struggled.

Rose,26, was averaging 18.4 points and 5.0 assists in 46 games this season.  The injury couldn’t have happened at a worse time, The Bulls were surging in the East and had won six of the last seven.  The organization expressed their sadness and disbelief because of how hard Rose has worked in rehab and on the court to get back to MVP form.

The only question that lingers is will we ever see the 2011 MVP Derrick Rose again?  We have seen him go through two surgeries, miss an entire season, and only play in 46 games this season.  It’s safe to say that Derrick Rose’s mind will need time to heal. To go from the top player in the world to one who can’t finish a season is troubling.  There is no doubt we all believe in Rose’s talent, but do we believe in his knees?
